Three Years of Winding Branch Ranch

Today marks three years of Winding Branch Ranch.

Three years of muddy boots, open gates, early mornings, late nights, full hearts and more hay than we ever thought possible.

When Winding Branch Ranch first opened, we knew we wanted to create a place where animals were safe, people felt welcome and the community could reconnect with agriculture in a real and meaningful way. What we could not have fully imagined was how deeply this place would grow into something much bigger than a sanctuary.

Over the past three years, Winding Branch Ranch has become a home for rescued farm animals, a classroom for students, a gathering place for families and a resource for the community. Children have learned where food comes from. Families have planted seeds, met animals, asked questions and made memories. Volunteers have shown up in the heat, the rain and the hard moments. Donors have believed in the work before it was easy to explain. Friends, neighbors and partners have helped shape this ranch into what it is today.

And the animals, of course, have taught us the most.

They have reminded us that care takes time. That trust is built slowly. That every life has value. That healing often happens quietly, one day at a time.

In three years, Winding Branch Ranch has welcomed thousands of visitors, expanded educational programs, cared for animals in need, built partnerships across the region and continued growing as an agricultural resource center for the Greater San Antonio community. Every step forward has been made possible by people who believe that this work matters.

Today is not just a celebration of how far we have come. It is also a reminder of where we are going.

We are building a future where more children can experience hands-on agricultural education, more animals can receive the care they deserve and more families can find connection, purpose and belonging through the land. We are growing carefully, intentionally and with deep gratitude for everyone who has helped us get here.

To our volunteers, donors, board members, staff, families, neighbors and friends: thank you.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for helping turn a little ranch in Bulverde into a place that has touched so many lives.

Three years in, we are more grateful than ever.

And we are just getting started.
