Winnie’s Surgery Update: She’s Standing

Winnie is out of surgery.

Dr. Harper just called to let us know everything went well.

She is already standing and will be ready to come home at 4PM today.

Winnie has a real chance to heal now, but the next few weeks will be important.

She will need help getting up and down as her body adjusts. To support that, she will be using a wheelchair while she learns and regains strength.

There will be a lot of rest.

She will still get time to visit with her friends in the pasture in the coming weeks, but her focus right now is recovery.

Because it is fly season, we will also be closely managing her environment to keep flies away from her wound and ensure proper healing.

We are incredibly grateful for how quickly people have shown up for Winnie.

We are close, but we still need to cover the rest of her surgery and care.

She adapted when she had to. She kept going when healing was not possible.

Now, she finally has the chance to move forward without that setback.
